Addressing the issue of Political Accountability

The Microtution Foundation web site provides the tools necessary to hold politicians accountable. By empowering the American people with knowledge of these new tools, American citizens can take an active role to help put these new tools to work and hold every candidate seeking election to public office accountable to their constituents if elected to serve.

The information on this site provides candidates, campaign activists and voters the background material, historical context, examples of successful implementations and the fundamental constitutional research that enables the American people to hold candidates for elected office accountable once they become elected officials. The practical political theory presented by the Responsibility Era was alpha tested in a 1989 congressional election and beta tested successfully in 1994 with The Republican Contract with America.

Imagine, an America where politicians at all levels of government include in their campaigns for office a new social contract, a Microtution, that includes a handful of action items they choose to offer voters: All nicely wrapped around crystal clear language that says if they fail to do these few items they will not seek re-election in the next election cycle.

Rather than force compliance through the power of law, such robust change in American politics must be voluntary and constitutional. The Responsibility Era presents the structural framework to facilitate this social contract reality and argues the necessities of practical politics, coupled with the marketplace of ideas, will drive these new contracts into the American system of government.

Irrespective of what one thinks of Newt Gingrich's politics, his 1994 contract with America was brilliant.  The  voting public was drawn to the idea of politicians holding themselves accountable by contract to a few principles if elected to office. This is the opportunity for electoral success the Responsibility Era promises to deliver to individual candidates for elective office at all levels of American government.
